Position Summary/Job Description:

As a member of Trek’s Trade Compliance team, the Trade Compliance Specialist will manage import and export compliance processes to ensure adherence to global customs regulations and partnering agencies. The Trade Compliance Specialist will be a leader of process improvements to ensure compliance to trade regulations while facilitating the inbound and outbound movement of shipments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and resolve U.S. import clearance delays.
  • Manage and enhance the ISF process for U.S. inbound ocean cargo.
  • Identify country of origin and marking on imported goods.
  • Ensure Trek’s imports follow US Customs valuation guidelines.
  • Manage Trek’s post-entry import audit program.
  • Identify free trade program opportunities while ensuring adherence to preferential treatment qualifications.
  • Support Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification in North America.
  • Perform U.S. export compliance functions including denied party screening and license determination.
  • Maintain recordkeeping according to both U.S. and Canadian import regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for applicable U.S. and Canadian import and export processes.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in International Logistics, Trade Compliance, or related field
  • U.S. Customs brokerage license preferred.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting U.S. Government regulations, Harmonized Tariff of the United States, and other applicable regulatory reference and control documents. Tariff classification experience preferred.
  • Practical experience with export and import processes, controls and documentation.
  • Must have a strong passion for continuous improvement, desire to learn and be a self-starter.
  • Capable of managing large data sets, analyzing trends and identifying risk.
  • Advance proficiency with current Microsoft Office and analytics programs including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Detail oriented, with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and on teams.
