Position Summary: 

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to grow our Road Bike Engineering team. Projects will span the road bike category. We’re looking for someone with diverse experience to provide a unique perspective.   • Plan and conduct engineering research, design, and development tasks for composite and metallic frames and components, as well as injection molded frame parts.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Industrial Design throughout the development process 
  • Create and modify engineering specification packages to ensure products meet parameters 
  • Coordinate engineering activities with domestic and international design teammates 
  • Assist legal department with patents and related issues for new and existing product 
  • Travel as necessary both domestically and internationally (<10% time during normal times) 
  • Effectively balance multiple projects, responsibilities, and tasks 



  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent 
  • 8+ years product development experience 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and engineering fundamentals 
  • Comfortable evaluating effort, setting/communicating expectations, and holding self-accountable to those expectations 
  • Able to communicate technical and timeline risk as needed 
  • Successful experience in a development effort through concept to production 
  • Experience using CAD modeling and analysis software (preferably Solidworks or OnShape) to create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings, including the ability to understand and apply GD&T methodology 
  • Strong foundation in engineering mechanics, design failure risk analysis, mechanical testing, and technical documentation 
  • Eagerness to take a hands-on approach to prototyping and problem solving when appropriate
  • Willingness to bring a creative approach to solving open-ended technical problems 
  • Attitude that fosters continuous improvement to product, processes, and self 



  • 10+ years of product development experience 
  • Have led multiple project cycles from concepting through production 
  • Have brought multiple products to market 
  • Experience working closely with Industrial Design and Product Management
  • Experience orchestrating brainstorm or lessons learned sessions 
  • Systems engineering experience 
  • Composite design experience 
  • Electro-mechanical design experience 
  • Experience working with a global product development team 
  • Design for manufacturing experience using carbon and aluminum, tube forming, welding, forging, CNC, and casting along with a basic understanding of manufacturing costs 
  • Understanding of how to design plastic components with considerations of manufacturing process constraints, resin property, fitment, and fastening 
  • Experience mentoring more junior engineers 
  • Comfortable presenting/communication technical ideas to non-technical audiences 
  • Experience with SolidWorks, OnShape, Enovia, Workfront, ePDM
